Linen and Lace, by Emily Sarks

Fabrics Used: Ivory Zin Linen & Silk Linen White & Ivory Lace
Time To Create: From scratch 3 days
Dress Influenced By: Im influenced by vintage wedding dresses. (If i could wear a vintage wedding dress every day i would!) The movie 'Almost Famous', Pattie Boyd and George Harrison, Silhouettes of the 60's, the fabrics i chose to use; Linen and Lace, Alice's adventures in Wonderland, springtime, present day ingénues like Carey Mulligan, The Like, wreathes of flowers, and dolls houses.
Additional Information: I had a lot of fun making this dress. Linen is a great fabric to work with as its very malleable. I actually learnt a new technique while constructing this dress. I didn't want any darts in the bodice as darts would distract from the beautiful lace i used. I need darts however so i sewed them into the under bodice and draped the lace/upper bodice over. I tacked into place and removed the tacking once the dress was complete. It worked a treat!

My Sewing Goals: Sewing goals! Well... every day that i am not on-set being a make-up artist i sew. I absolutely love it! i love sitting at my machine and creating something. I love coming up with my design and being able to construct it from a flat piece of cardboard and fabric. So together with my passion for sewing and my unique style one day i'd like to see a girls walking down the street wearing my dresses.
