Tessuti Awards 2010
Linen and Lace, by Tegan Rose
About my Linen and Lace
- Pattern Used: My own design
- Fabrics Used: Medium enzyme washed ivory linen, handmade lace fan trim, Guipure Lace Ivory f2117 panel.
- Time To Create: The dress approx 4 days including draping toile design, the lace an additional approx 14hrs work
- Dress Influenced By: Vintage inspired. I draped this pattern, but was looking at a lot of designs & patterns from the 50's & 60's for inspiration. Specifically McCall's 5406 from 1960; and I based the neckline on a modern Vogue pattern, 8280.
- Additional Information: I hand screen printed the Lace Fan design on to my linen. The print design is my own. I made the lace trim along the neckline by hand, using the bobbin lacemaking method. I chose this particular lace fan shape to echo the Lace Fan print & matched the print colour to the Ecru Egyptian Cotton of the lace. I love the look of a cinched waist & made the belt so it matched the print on the bodice front.
