Tessuti Awards 2010
Linen and Lace, by Sandra Andary
About my Linen and Lace
- Pattern Used: My own design
- Fabrics Used: Cream Linen Knit / French Lace / Tessuti Trims
- Time To Create: About 10 days from start to finish.
- Dress Influenced By: The artist Mucha, drawing out the feminine in a majestic way using natural elements and detail. "The Lady of Shallot" 1888, by John William Waterhouse. Bohemian/Gamine styling...creating a sense of freedom/young energy using fabrics that have movement to reflect the journey forward. Antiques - old is new again. New York...choosing a dress style/fabrics that look vintage, yet mixed with quirky/arty accessories for an updated style. :)
- Additional Information: I call the dress Majestic Boho. Everything used is 98% Tessuti, from thread, invisible zip, wool binding around the armholes and low-back, fringe trim for sleeves and also around the neckline, tiny 'circles' trim for the keyhole, French lace with fan detailing appliqued onto the Linen knit. The knit was then cut away from behind the lace to highlight the lace patterning. I also added a few hot fix pearls, (my own)...seen around the keyhole for a little bit of vintage edge.
About Me
- Name: Sandra Andary
- State: VIC
- Sewing Since: 1990
- My Experience: Have made clothes since I was quite young...or rather, glued, sticky-taped pieces of paper/cloth for my dolls! I wanted them to have their own style. : ) Years later, I make things for people who contribute positively to our world. Certainly love working with beautiful fabrics and adding personal detail that tell a story. I've never worked for a designer...always did my own thing..learning as I go however, I studied fashion/art along the way, through school, muses, musicians, travel, life.
- My Sewing Goals: Putting together a range of pieces which bring about the god/goddess...drawing the masculine/feminine in fine majestic glory. Every person has individuality that should be celebrated with pieces that adorn and tell stories which speak of higher places, energetically speaking....pieces that hold value, fit beautifully, and are harmonious with life today. : )
- Additional Information: My little boy Caeden, Arts - (Mucha, Klimt, John William Waterhouse), Antiques, Spirituality, Dance, Music, Superfood, wonderful friends, fun, travel, realising dreams.....basically, to be happy and free being myself and choosing things that inspire me each day.
