About My Dress

Pattern Used:
My own design

Fabrics Used:
Jacquard Spot, Black and Copper 100% Polyester, Pumpkin Bemberg lining 100% polyester

Time To Create:
Over a 2 week period, with pattern drafting, fittings and toiles.

Dress Influenced By:
The design for this dress has been influenced by the collection by Raf Simons for Dior Autumn/Winter ’12, including the current returning trend of the ‘Peplum’ again with a twist. This dress is the perfect ensemble for the Melbourne Cup 2012. The peplum gives a hint of the pumpkin lining, just a sneak peak.

My Experience:
I studied first year of Fashion Certificate back in 1979, I was not able to complete this TAFE course, but I have continued to design, sew and create many garments, costumes and Wedding gowns etc over the past 40 years. (WOW has it really been that long). This year I have enrolled in an Advanced Pattern Making course at MSIT, and am really enjoying the new world of TAFE and Fashion in the 21st century.

My Sewing Goals:
To continue to create beautiful garments, but my greatest wish is to be able to sew every week, for the rest of my life.

Additional Information:
This year I was able to fly to Sydney for the day (how extravagant) and make my fabric selection in person to touch all the fabrics feeling the textures and weights and dream of what could be made. To experience Tessuti , in real life, HEAVEN. A special thank you to Kerryn, my beautiful model, and Ann, for her assistance with enhancing my photography.
