Dress Influenced By:
The Valentino Spring/Summer 2011 collection was a great inspiration for my dress. The feminine, light, sheer, soft and soft palette designs gave me great inspiration for my own summer dress. The ultra feminine romance and glamour of the Jane Austen Era and The Victorian Era of elegance, intricate detailing and extravagant construction techniques has also inspired my design, and helped me to explore creative and innovative surface decorations such as applique and ruffling. The use of a soft pastel coloured palette using whites, crèmes and black creates an effortless elegant and sophisticated look that creates a light-as-air dreamy summer dress feeling that has inspired me to create my summer spotted dress with a soft on the skin lining (silk) and light and sheer organza main fabric. The ruffled encircled sleeves create a sense of romanticism inspired by the early seventies collections (that in turn looked back to the dreamy thirties) where beige colours were in.
