About My Dress

wool felt

Time To Create:
4 weeks from initial conception to pattern make, toile and final sewing.

Dress Influenced By:
A sleepless night with a classic image of structure, geometric shapes, style lines, the focus of negative space, the flow of fabric and the flattering of the female body.

amazingly innovative and original. your design is multifaceted - it evokes both tradition and 'the new' with an equal touch of sophistication and flirtines, as well as accentuating the form of the female body. love it.

Stunning! it's wearable, yet highly sculptural and innovative. The garment also looks very well executed, with the seam lines subtly hinting at the fluidity of the cut.

Sewing Since:
I was fourteen

My Experience:
When I was a little girl my Mum would make dresses and outfits for my sisters and myself. I was always interested in the fabrics, colours, prints, how she followed patterns and how a flat piece of fabric transformed into a one off garment, pieces that were not for sale anywhere else. I was always interested in clothes, fashion and fabrics- which led me to study fashion design at Sydney Institute of TAFE before I decided to move to Melbourne to study my final years at RMIT- completing the Advanced Diploma in 2009 and now continuing to study the Bachelor of Applied Fashion Design and Technology. I have learnt most of the sewing techniques at college, hours of self practice, and those young girl years of learning from mother to daughter.

My Sewing Goals:
To continue to learn and develop the skills of sewing, pattern making, design development and achieving the most important- a perfect finish.
