About My Dress
Pattern Used:
My own design
Fabrics Used:
Silk Organza, Lace, Lightweight lustrous fabric
Time To Create:
2 weeks
Dress Influenced By:
I was influenced by lingerie being worn as outerwear and the desire to push the boundaries of what is traditionally considered an LBD. It is a sensual and overt interpretation of the LBD and was designed to be worn by a girl with incredible confidence and a killer attitude to match.
Additional Information:
Strapless LBD with boned panelled bodice, pleated tucked organza side panels and lace garter straps.
Patterns were made from scratch; the organza side panels took a day each to complete.
Coco Chanel's LBD may be a classic, but for her time it was no doubt revolutionary. That is ultimately what I am channeling in my design.

It's kind of a hot mess. The bodice sticks out from her body so basically anyone could see her breasts. It's original and avant guarde - but completely unwearable.

Whose to say what is wearable and what is not? Rules are made to be broken and the codes of modesty are everchanging.
