Tessuti Awards
The core-judging panel is an independent jury of fashion design experts who will be responsible for the judging and final decision-making of all entries on the night.
The judges will use the following criteria to assess the gaments:
Vintage Little Black Dress
The garment:
- is to be made to an Australian standard size 10.
- fulfils requirements of a Little Black Dress (i.e. not a floor length ballgown).
- can be worn on the night by the person submitting the Little Black Dress, or by someone you choose to bring along to model the garment.
The judges will award points for the following criteria:
- Theme (Vintage Little Black Dress)
- Application of the Vintage theme.
- Meets 80% Tessuti fabric requirements.
- Fulfils requirements of an LBD.
- Design
- Silhouette and Proportion.
- Fabrication.
- Design Detailing.
- Balance/Design resolution
- Innovative Elements
- Fashion Appreciation
- Understanding of trends.
- Application to fashion market.
- Make and Finish of garment
- Quality of work and attention to detail.
- Construction appropriate to design and fabric.
- Fit.
- Presentation
- Styling complements design.
- Model complements design.
Smart Daywear, Eveningwear
The garment:
- is to be made to fit the entrant or a model supplied by the entrant – there are no size requirements
- fulfils requirements of a Smart Daywear or Eveningwear outfit
The judges will award points for the following criteria:
- Theme (Smart Daywear, Eveningwear)
- Design appropriate for category.
- Meets 80% Tessuti fabric requirements.
- Design
- Suitability to client and to occasion.
- Silhouette and Proportion.
- Choice of fabric.
- Design Detailing.
- Balance/Design resolution.
- Innovative Elements.
- Fashion Appreciation
- Understanding of trends.
- Application to fashion market.
- Practicality
- Suitability to figure type.
- Make and Finish of garment
- Quality of work and attention to detail.
- Construction appropriate to design and fabric.
- Fit.
- Presentation
- Styling complements design.
- Model complements design.
Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions apply to enter the Tessuti Awards.
- It is a condition of entry that the garments have not entered any previous awards, Tessuti Awards reserves the right to withdraw at any time or refuse to accept the entry of such garments.
- The garment being submitted is "on loan" by or to Tessuti Awards.
- It is a condition of entry that the garment, images and associated materials be permitted for promoting the Tessuti Awards and the images could be supplied to the media for promotion.
- It is a condition of entry that the winning garments need to be available for promotional photography/displays for up to 6 months. The winning entrants give permission for Tessuti and ESMOD to use images of themselves and the winning garments on the Tessuti and ESMOD websites and other promotional opportunities if required.
- The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- It is a condition of entry that all prizes are non-transferrable and non-redeemable for cash.
- Registration closes 24th of August 2009.
- You can enter a garment into both categories, however you can only enter one garment in each category.
Quick Facts
- The Tessuti Awards is an annual event, first held in 2007.
- 2009 Tessuti Awards will be held on 2nd of September starting at 6:30pm.
- Registration to enter opens August 10 and closes August 28.
- There will be 2 categories; Vintage Little Black Dress & Smart Day/Evening Wear.
- Both categories are open to Tessuti customers, both young and old, male and female, fashion students and all sewers.
- Tessuti Melbourne will hold a Tessuti Awards night on the 13th August, ask in store for details.
